Well I've watched all the X Men offerings so far, I had to go watch the Wolverine. I know many people were let down by his origins story. It was flawed. Let's be honest and if you know the comics it was probably painful. I do not know the comics and so it was entertainment for me, no more no less. But let's move on from the past and look to what we have now.
We find a tormented Logan not really living after what happened in Last Stand. I had heard that the new movie was going to ignore Last Stand, this film suggests otherwise. Contrary to popular opinion I actually like this. Fine ignore origins it won't fit. but don't ignore the trilogy. I think it could fit in with the backstory to Days of Future Past but maybe I'm biased?
Yukio is bad ass! The fight scenes are well choreographed and exciting. There are ninjas for crying out loud! Ninja's always get plus points from me. A few thing are perhaps predictable whilst others are a bit like what? I wonder if there were a few options for plot development rather than one overall plan. But for me it worked. It was what all the X Men films are. Entertaining.
And then there is the last scene. The one after the credits that if you wait patiently you are rewarded with. If you go and see this film, wait until that scene. Whatever you do you must wait. I had a suspicion what it would be and I was right. I will not divulge any information but you will fan girl your way out of the cinema even if you're a 40 year old man. Most agree it's the best bit of the film, although some people in my party had questions because they didn't watch the after after credits scene in Last Stand. Bwahaha!
So excited for Days of Future Past. I think it could be something really special the way Avengers really stood out among the Iron Man, Captain America etc series of films.

Monster's University
Well no-one who is a Pixar fan will need convincing to go see this. Pixar have a certain level of excellence that means even if you have been living under a rock and not seen Monsters Inc, you'd be willing to give this a chance. I feel like Pixar make sequels only when they have somewhere to take the story.
So I went to the cinema with high hopes but also apprehensive. I mean if this film let me down it would be huge. Luckily no such disaster occurred!
Young Mike Wazowski is the cutest thing ever! It made the film for me straight away! I think it's something we can all associate with, feeling like an outsider. As a fan girl would say, "The Feels!"
The elements that made me fall in love with Monsters Inc were all there, the laughs, the friendship, the cuteness. It is a good film! For me, Monsters Inc is still my favourite but then I've watched that so many times. I think I'll have to add MU to my DVD collection to really appreciate it more!
I also think Disney are missing a trick not selling MU letterman jackets. I will be buying one of ebay though!
I'm such a big kid!

Cuppa Coffee and Cake, Cheltenham Spa
So I had time to kill while my Boyfriend was at a job interview in the quiet town of Cheltenham Spa. So I thought I'd waste some time drinking tea and maybe enjoying a bit of cake! What happened to be near the train station? Cuppa (Coffee and Cake). A cute little coffee shop just opposite the exit.
It was dead in there, I was there 2 hours and was the only customer. It was a tuesday afternoon so perhaps not many people about but it is a gem!
The menu was extensive. Different tea's, coffee's, cold drinks, sandwiches and cake! It had everything!
I only had some tea (Earl Grey) served in a cute teapot with an adorable small glass bottle of milk.
The cake! It all looked amazing but I finally decided on these cake pops. The flavour was familiar to something my mum makes but I can not remember the name for the life of me! Similar to a rocky road but softer in texture? It was gorgeous any way! And the presentation was lovely. Chocolate lollipop covered in coconut flakes!
Cheltenham Spa isn't exactly a young persons town. Although it has very pretty buildings. The photo on the left is a library. I was looking for the museum but it was closed. *Sad face*
Overall was a nice visit anyway and if you are in Cheltenham Spa give Cuppa a visit!

Pulled Pork
So if you've watched Man V Food you'll have seen pulled pork a lot. Me and my friend were craving it massively even though we've never tried it. So after a little inspiration from online I created my own pulled pork recipe. The following ingredients are what I used:
- 600g joint of pork shoulder,
- Rajah all purpose seasoning,
- 2 red onions,
- 1 courgette,
- BBQ sauce.
- Score the meat so the seasoning can get deep into it, if you have time leave the meat to marinade but tbh it still tastes good without.
- Chop 2 onions, a courgette and add to the base of a roasting tin.
- Add your meat, covering it in seasoning.
- Add water, doesn't need to be exact, I'd guess I added 300ml?
- Add some BBQ sauce to the seasoned veg/water mix.
- Cover with tin foil.
- Cook for 2 hours at 160/170 degrees celsius depending on your oven (Fan assisted or not)
- Enjoy with BBQ sauce and a nice burger bun!
Save the stock! It's delicious! Think I'mma make some risotto, or lentils!
The Review part:
It's delicious. The meat is so tender, soft and tasty. This is the easiest and fastest recipe. Seriously, try it! It uses pork shoulder so even a student budget will stretch to this meal. And it's so filling. This recipe fed 2 just eating the meat and 3 buns each. With potatoes this would easily feed 4.

This Is The End
What a film!!
It is so messed up. I just don't know where to begin. I almost feel guilty for liking it.
I guess first of all, take a bow Michael Cera, that is the best performance you've ever given. His character's a bit of a crazy douchey party animal. And it's the opposite to his usual geeky, nice but shy guy act. So kudos! I know some people hate him and think he's a terrible actor, this film may make you feel differently about him. Although if you genuinely hate him for doing his job then you have bigger problems.
The cameos are ridiculous, everyone is in it for at least a bit. Celeb spotting in the beginning is exciting and kind of new.
They've done well with the trailer, tbh I had no idea how the world was ending until I watched it so if you're worried all the best bits are in the trailer, panic over!
There are some disturbing scenes, not gonna lie, and a couple that made the whole cinema jump. They haven't shied away from the horror element, although most of that is suspense. They've kept the big "enemy" as a suprise for the end so I won't spoil it for you.
Even though the actors are playing themselves, they are caricatures of themselves. It makes for great entertainment. I guess there's a morality aspect but it's not preachy.
All in all it's a good film and worth watching if only for the very last scene....
*Ooh mysterious*

Man of Steel
So here's where I am with Superman. I've never been a huge fan, and maybe you need to read the comics to appreciate him, or maybe the old movies didn't do him justice or maybe he's just not my kind of hero?
I will say this. Go in with low expectations and you will be happy. Go in expecting the Avengers and you will laugh your way out of the cinema. But come on. No film will match The Avengers until Avengers 2 comes out.
So as I say I go in with low expectations and I was pleasantly suprised. It's Superman, there's a certain amount of cheesy dialogue I reluctantly agreed but I felt Zack Snyder's take was much more satisfying. We have a villain that is finally on the same level of Superman without relying on a little lump of rock.
It's a long film but I did enjoy it. There are frequent changes of pace and scenery which helps.
Oh and I love what they've done with Lois! I don't want to spoil it but I feel she holds her own. Previous incarnations are smart but you don't see the evidence of that like you do here.
All in all I think this film is worth seeing at least once and I am interested in seeing where they will take this version. I won't be buying the DVD though.
